One skill retake to be introduced by IELTS
In the near future, students taking the world's most popular high-stakes language test, IELTS, will be able to benefit from a new feature that will enable them to boost their scores in order to achieve their goals for global learning and career development.
Expected to be available in November at limited IDP IELTS centres in Australian capital cities, One Skill Retake will enable test takers to retake one section of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) English test if they did not achieve the score they aimed for the first time around.
Managing Director - IELTS, IDP Education, Warwick Freeland, explained that the One Skill Retake has been introduced in response to feedback from test takers.
The right preparation and support will enable our test takers to achieve the best score on their first attempt, according to Mr Freeland.
Nevertheless, we listened to the feedback of our test takers and they told us that they would like the opportunity to take another section of the test if their score was not what they expected on the day of the test."
With One Skill Retake, test takers will be able to get back on track with their study, migration and work applications plans," he said.
It is anticipated that during the first launch phase, the Australian Department of Home Affairs will issue a second Test Report Form to all test takers who choose a One Skill Retake that they can use for migration and study purposes.
The One Skill Retake initiative, according to Mr Freeland, is an example of IELTS' commitment to ensuring that customers achieve their best possible scores and to supporting organizations in attracting qualified candidates.
It is expected that once the One Skill Retake is launched, organizations that accept it will be able to offer their candidates the flexibility to meet their entry requirements without compromising the quality of their applications," said Mr Freeland.
The initiative is an important part of our commitment to helping test takers achieve their full potential, and we are pleased to be taking part in it.
In November, One Skill Retake will be introduced for the first time in Australia. It is expected that more information will be available in early November.
